How to Update Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 N5100 to Android 5.1.1 using CM 12.1 Stable ROM.



Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 GSM N5100  CyanogenMod 12.1 Stable releases are based on the AOSP Android 5.1.1 Lollipop builds. It contains all the stock Android features as well as tons of extra functions and elements designed by the CyanogenMod team.




÷ Prerequisites:


•Use this post only with the GSM model of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 tablets.
– the model number of your device has to be N5100 and this can be verified under the Settings> About Phone menu.


•Don’t try to flash the files you find in this post on other Android devices, as you will end up bricking them.

•Your tablet has got to be rooted and running a custom Recovery.
– both CWM-based and TWRP Custom Recovery variants are working with this post.
– the installation Custom Recovery has to be upgraded to its latest version prior to starting the CM 12.1 flashing process, as you need to be sure that it supports the latest Android 5.1.1 ROM installations.

÷ How to Update Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 N5100 to Android 5.1.1 using CM 12.1 Stable ROM.

1- Download the CM 12.1 SNAPSHOT zip & Gapps for Android 5.1.1 ROMs.

3- Move both zip files on to your tablet’s internal storage after the downloads are done.
– do not extract the archived contents of the files.
– disconnect the Note 8 from computer after the file transfers are done.

4- Switch off your tablet.Next, boot it in Custom Recovery Mode.
– it can be done by pressing the following buttons combo: Volume Up, Home and Power.
– release buttons when the Recovery Mode Warning screen loads, then press Volume Up to confirm.

5- You can start the NANDROID ROM Backup first:
– CWM: select ‘backup and restore’.
– for TWRP use the ‘backup’ menu.
– set a name for the file and confirm process.

6- Factory Reset your device now:
– CWM: select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’, while for TWRP you should use the ‘wipe’ options menu.
– confirm the factory reset and continue to the next step when done.

7- Start CM 12.1 Android 5.1.1 Stable ROM installation:
– for CWM select ‘install zip from sdcard’, then ‘choose zip from sdcard’.
– for TWRP select the ‘install’ option.

8- Find the CM 12.1 SNAPSHOT zip and confirm the flashing process.
– don’t press any buttons until all files are installed successfully.

9- Flash Gapps zip in the same way after the ROM is done installing all of its new files.

10- Reboot your tablet in normal mode after all the new files are successfully installed.
– the first boot will take at least 10 minutes to complete, don’t press any buttons until the installation is done.
